AeroSchool History: A Timeline
2017 – The Beginning
-
Scenic Air Tours North East Ltd was founded by Chris and Tracy Everrett at Teesside Airport.
-
The company initially offered scenic flights around the picturesque North East region of England using a Piper PA28-180 (G-AVRK). These flights became popular for their stunning views of the coastline and historic landmarks, establishing a strong connection with the local community.
-
2018 – Expansion into Flight Training
-
As interest in aviation grew, Scenic Air Tours expanded its services to include flight training.
-
The company introduced two PA28-161 Warriors (G-LFSJ and G-BOJZ), broadening its fleet to accommodate student pilots. With high standards of instruction and meticulously maintained aircraft, Scenic Air Tours began building a solid reputation for providing high-quality flight training. Students were drawn to the personalized approach and the opportunity to train in modern, reliable aircraft.
-
2019-2021 – Building a Reputation
-
Scenic Air Tours North East Ltd steadily gained recognition for its professional and friendly approach to flight training.
-
The company became known for its one-on-one training, tailoring lessons to each student’s needs while ensuring a high level of safety and instruction quality. Word of mouth from satisfied students and scenic flight customers contributed to the growth of the school, which continued to attract aspiring pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike.
-
2022 – Acquisition and Growth
-
Scenic Air Tours North East Ltd was acquired by Praeluceo Group Ltd, an investment company led by Tom Honeyman.
-
The acquisition marked a significant milestone in the company's journey, providing the resources needed to expand its operations and upgrade its fleet. Under the new ownership, the company rebranded to AeroSchool, reflecting its broader ambitions in the flight training sector. The strong foundation laid by the Everretts was set to scale into a multi-base flight training school with greater reach across the region.
-
-
2023 – Humberside Acquisition
-
In 2023, AeroSchool made a strategic move by acquiring the assets of the Frank Morgan Flying School at Humberside International Airport.
-
This acquisition included property at the airport, the aircraft G-BEAC, and the ability to base operations at the international airport, significantly expanding AeroSchool’s footprint in the UK aviation training market.
-
2024 – Breighton Airfield Operations
-
In 2024, AeroSchool continued its expansion by commencing operations at Breighton Airfield, a unique grass strip airfield in East Yorkshire.
-
Known for its vibrant vintage aircraft community and historical significance, Breighton Airfield added a distinctive element to AeroSchool's operations. With a focus on uncontrolled airfield operations, grass runway experience, and vintage aviation, students now had the opportunity to diversify their training by experiencing different types of airfields. Breighton’s community and the addition of a new training base provided AeroSchool with the chance to cater to a broader range of pilots, from recreational flyers to serious aviation enthusiasts looking for an authentic flying experience.
-
2026 – Manchester Barton
Continuing its ambitious growth, AeroSchool expanded into the North West in 2026 with the opening of its Manchester Barton base.
Located at the historic Manchester Barton Aerodrome, the new base marked a significant milestone in the organisation's development, extending AeroSchool's reach into one of the UK's largest aviation communities. Barton provides students with a unique combination of traditional grass airfield operations, busy local airspace and excellent access to controlled airspace, making it an ideal environment for both initial flight training and hour building.
The expansion into Barton reflects AeroSchool's long-term commitment to investing in high-quality flight training, increasing accessibility for students across the North of England and creating a clear pathway from recreational flying through to advanced ratings and future commercial training.
Today – One of the North's Largest Flight Training Organisations
Today, AeroSchool operates across four training locations with a fleet of over 18 aircraft, all owned outright, giving the organisation complete control over fleet availability, maintenance standards and investment.
Operating from Teesside International Airport, Humberside Airport, Manchester Barton Aerodrome and Breighton Airfield, AeroSchool offers students an unrivalled variety of training environments. From international airports with controlled airspace and instrument procedures, to traditional grass airfields and some of the UK's busiest general aviation airspace, students gain experience that prepares them for real-world flying from the very beginning.
Supported by a team of more than 30 experienced instructors and over 22,000 aircraft movements each year, AeroSchool has established itself as one of the leading independent flight training organisations in the North of England. Training is available from introductory flying lessons through to Private Pilot Licences, advanced ratings and specialist courses, while the organisation is working towards introducing commercial flight training from 2027.
Built on a commitment to safety, professionalism and exceptional customer service, AeroSchool continues to invest in its people, fleet and facilities, ensuring every student receives first-class instruction in a supportive and modern learning environment.
