Instrument Rating (IR)

Coming soon to AeroSchool

An Instrument Rating (IR) is one of the most rewarding qualifications a pilot can achieve, opening up a whole new world of flying. It allows pilots to operate under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), fly in cloud and reduced visibility, and safely navigate using instrument procedures, significantly increasing both capability and confidence.

As AeroSchool continues to invest in its fleet, instructors and training capability, we are working towards introducing Instrument Rating (IR) training, with an anticipated launch during 2026, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

Expanding Your Flying Horizons

An Instrument Rating transforms the way you fly.

Rather than being limited by visual weather conditions, IR-qualified pilots can safely operate in a much wider range of environments, making cross-country and international flying more practical while developing a far higher level of precision, planning and situational awareness.

Whether your ambition is recreational touring, aircraft ownership or a future professional flying career, an Instrument Rating is one of the most valuable qualifications you can add to your licence.

Build the Right Foundations Today

The journey towards an Instrument Rating begins long before instrument training itself.

At AeroSchool, we can help you build the experience and skills needed by offering:

  • Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

  • National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL)

  • Night Rating

  • Instrument Rating (Restricted) (IR(R))

  • Advanced navigation and cross-country experience

  • Structured hour building

These qualifications provide an excellent foundation for pilots wishing to progress to a full Instrument Rating in the future.

Our Vision

Our long-term vision is to support pilots throughout every stage of their aviation journey.

Alongside our planned Commercial Pilot Licence training, AeroSchool is working towards offering a complete pathway for pilots wishing to continue developing their skills, including advanced instrument and multi-engine training.

Planned Future Training

Subject to regulatory approval, AeroSchool intends to introduce:

  • Instrument Rating (IR)

  • Multi-Engine Class Rating (ME)

  • Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)

  • Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)

  • Additional advanced professional training

These courses are currently under development and are not yet available. All future training remains subject to regulatory approval.
