Tom is the Managing Director and Head of Training at AeroSchool, where he leads the organisation's strategic direction, growth and training standards across its network of bases. As a qualified Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, he remains actively involved in flight training and can regularly be found flying and instructing across AeroSchool's bases, helping students become safe, confident and capable pilots.
Tom's passion for aviation began at the age of 14 through the Combined Cadet Force. Before acquiring AeroSchool in 2022, he spent nearly two decades building and leading businesses in the pharmaceutical, engineering and life sciences sectors, leading the growth of an SME into an internationally recognised business employing more than 300 people and recognised with the Queen's Award for Enterprise. Since acquiring AeroSchool, Tom has overseen its expansion into one of the North of England's leading independent flight training organisations through continued investment in its aircraft, people and facilities.
Tom enjoys working with students of all backgrounds and ambitions, from those taking their very first trial lesson to aspiring commercial pilots. Equally passionate about recreational flying and professional pilot training, he believes every student deserves the same high standard of instruction, support and encouragement.
Away from AeroSchool, Tom's enthusiasm for aviation continues through aerobatics, tailwheel flying, floatplane operations and touring by light aircraft throughout Europe and the United States. Outside flying, he remains passionate about engineering, entrepreneurship and travel, and is also a keen organist.
